Legendary literary agent Ed Victor has died of a heart attack at the age of 77.

Victor, whose clients included Keith Richards, Eric Clapton and Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, moved from New York to London in the early 1960s and launched his eponymous literary agency in 1976. Over his long career he found publishers for the likes of Douglas Adams's Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy series and Johanna Basford's adult colouring books.
